Saddle / Leather care Soap

Updated: Oct 19, 2021

Fine for the stable

vegetarian

I wanted to try a saddle soap for a good friend.

It's her birthday !!!

And since there is almost nothing that interests them more than horses, it was obvious to boil a leather care soap for the stable.

Reciep:

Beeswax, yellow

Coconut oil

Canola oil, ho

Olive oil

OHP

Mixed saponification 90/10

for Super fat 7%

Liquid 30%: dist.water

uncolored, scented

Fragrance:

Essenciel oil Mixture:

Orange, Litsea Cubeba, Rosemary

In itself everything is pretty straightforward!

  • Put oils and fats in the saucepan and let warm.

  • Add wax and melt.

  • Lye mix and put it to the oils.

  • Simmer very slowly and long at low temperature. A game of patience for me!

  • Very important! Don't forget to stir. The whole thing burns very quickly.

  • Last but not least, when everything is boiled into a thick mush, stir in the scent well and stir in well.

  • Oh yes - nothing should tickle with Küschentest!

  • In the forms with it and well, yes!

However, I still have to fine-tune the recipe!

There was one point or another that I don't really like.

The whole thing was eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewig thin.

Whether a water reduction helps is questionable? I almost think - no!

Maybe next time I should try the oven variant, let's see. Or was it the mixed saponification?

The pieces took a long time until they were useful firmly. Almost 3 months!I think it is still at the Mixed saponification, given that a good proportion of beeswax has migrated into the pot.

Wax allows the glue to thicken quickly and makes hard soaps.

But in the end it's become soap, HIHIHI!

You won't win a beauty contest, but it can be a little more rustic for the stable

I'm curious how it will be received!
